
Brett J. Scolari is a shareholder in the firm’s Administrative, Gaming & Government Affairs Department. The focus of Mr. Scolari’s practice is issues of land use, licensing, redevelopment, and other local government issues. He has successfully advocated for land use entitlements for many different projects including master planned communities, resort casino and mixed use projects. He has also successfully represented local government agencies, such as the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitor’s Authority, on many different matters.
Additionally, he has vast experience working with state regulatory agencies such as the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, Nevada Division of Minerals, Nevada Division of State Lands, Nevada Division of Wildlife, Nevada Gaming Control Board/Commission, Tax Commission and others. Representative cases include those involving mineral, air, omissions and chemical permitting for various projects, administrative appeals, licensing, and other similar matters. He has also worked with various clients on issues in the Nevada State Legislature, most recently focusing on land use and water issues.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Scolari was a stockholder at the Jones Vargas law firm. He is a fourth generation northern Nevadan.
Mr. Scolari was recognized by Reno Mayor Robert Cashell while serving as the chairman for the ReTRAC Citizens Oversight Committee, a group charged with reviewing the progress and budget of the largest public works project in the history of northern Nevada. He was also recognized with the “Top Twenty Under Forty Award” by the Reno-Tahoe Young Professionals Network and the Reno Gazette-Journal.
